2016 Audi A8 Revealed
Audi’s S-Class rival has been revealed with updates. The updated car will get better engines, more equipment and a new variant.
The new variant is the Audi A8 Sport which will replace the Sport Executive trim in the current range. The Sport variant will take visual clues from the more powerful S8 model. It will get side skirts along with 19-inch alloy wheels.
The long wheelbase version will be available with a petrol-electric hybrid engine. The petrol engine will be a 6.3 litre W12 engine producing 500 PS. The flagship S8 will continue to be powered by a 4.0 litre V8 with Cylinder on Demand technology and will produce 520 PS. The standard wheelbase A8 will be powered by a 3.0 litre V6 diesel with a slight increase in power. It now produces 262 PS. Carbon dioxide output has been reduced to 149 gm/km. This engine will give 17.55 km/litre. The other engine option is a 4.2 litre V8 diesel which will produce 385 PS and 850 Nm of torque. It will do a 0-100 in 4.7 seconds. The carbon dioxide output for this version has been reduced to 189 g/km. The car will return 13.87 km/litre of fuel.
No car can compete with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class rival if it does not have a huge list of new equipments and features to improve luxury. The updated Audi A8 does not disappoint in this aspect. The A8 gets quattro all-wheel drive and four-mode adaptive air suspension as standard. The V8 diesel variant also gets a sport differential. The sport model gets a MatrixBeam LED headlights which uses a bank of LEDs. These can be individually shut off to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers without affecting full beam illumination and a 600-watt Bose sound system. The SE version gets Valcona leather upholstery, a 180-watt audio system and touch sensitive MMI screen. Over the SE car’s equipments, the SE Executive gets new features like powered door closure, a 22-way powered adjustment with memory function for the front seats and a privacy glass for the rear windows.
