2018 Nissan GT-R to get Le Mans Engine
The R35 Nissan GT-R, also known as the Godzilla, was launched in 2007 and it was quickly termed as the supercar killer. It is powered by a 3.8 litre, twin turbo V6 producing around 550 BHP. Nissan has now revealed that the 2018 R36 Nissan GT-r will be powered by a successor to a 3.0 litre twin turbo V6.
This V6 is no ordinary V6. It will be a version of the engine powering their Le Mans racer, the LMP1. The LMP1 is a hybrid generating 1250 BHP. The V6 engine is a direct injection engine and it revs to 6,500 rpm. This makes it highly applicable on road. The company says that racing has helped massively in the development of the engine. In fact, this 3.0 litre V6 is the most reliable component of the 1,250 BHP hybrid racer. Nissan has managed to create a highly efficient engine delivering roughly the same power as the current model, but it consumes about a third of the fuel. This makes the engine powerful yet efficient.
The next generation Nissan GT-R is expected to be launched in 2018. The company says that the R36, which will be powered by this new engine, is expected to be a hybrid. The new Nissan GT-R is an exciting new product and worth waiting for.
