Indian Brings Two New Bikes To India
Iconic American motorbike manufacturer, Indian has opened a new showroom in Bangalore and has also launched two new motorcycles. The bikes are the Roadmaster and the Dark Horse. Both bikes are based on the Indian Chief range and they will be offered as a CBU bought in from its plant based in the US.
The first is the luxurious 2015 Indian Roadmaster cruiser which has been designed keeping Indians’s rich heritage in mind. The bike comes with finely finished leather seats, saddle bags, a trunk at the rear, electrically adjustable windshield, keyless ignition, remote locking storage, LED lighting, a sound system with Bluetooth and AUX, cruise control and ABS. The bike also gets a host of other features and a long list of accessories. The 2015 Indian Roadmaster has been priced at 34.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The second bike they launched is the 2015 Indian Dark Horse cruiser, which unlike the Roadmaster has been parts stripped out. These include pillion seat, oil cooler, analog fuel guage, and less chrome when compared to the other Indian models. This results in a significant weight reduction. The Dark Horse weighs less than the Chief range. The bike has been priced at 21.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). For this amount, the bike gets remote ignition, cruise control, ABS, heated grips which are optional and a lot more. The Dark Horse comes in a single colour, which is matte black known as “Black Smoke” by the company.
Both bikes will be powered by a 1.8 litre V-twin engine that produces an estimated power of 100 PS and a torque output of 139 Nm at 2,600 RPM. This is paired to a six speed gearbox. The suspension components include telescopic forks at the front and adjustable monoshocks at the rear. The bikes will ride on Dunlop Elite rubber.
