The 2015 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix was a disaster for Renault as all four cars they power had major issues. Daniel Ricciardo had a problem with his engine during qualifying Red Bull decided to change the engine as a precautionary measure. His team mate, Daniil Kvyat’s engine suffered a spectacular blowout during the race. Red Bull’s sister team, Toro Rosso was not problem free either. Max Verstappen drove brilliantly until his engine blew while he was on the pit straight. This caused the race to end behind the safety car. Carlos Sainz had a momentary loss of power mid race. But luckily for him, he regained drive soon.

Renault believes that both Daniil Kvyat and Max Verstappen both experienced the same problem with their internal combustion engine. They have planned dyno tests during the course of the week to help them understand the problem and come back strongly in Bahrain. The new power units have unfortunately carried over a few issues due to their early introduction. These niggles have to be ironed out and Renault is targeting 100% reliability.
